In the event of death (G-d forbid), we are obliged to recite Kaddish for the deceased. This prayer is recited in memory of the deceased, enabling his or her soul to ascend through the upper worlds until it enters Gan Eden.
On the death of a relative, Kaddish must be recited for eleven months after the death. It must be recited three times a day, in the presence of ten men (Minyan), during the Sha'harit, Min'ha and Arvit prayers.
When a parent dies, the family is responsible for reciting Kaddish. Ideally, the son should recite it for one year, after each daily prayer (morning, afternoon and evening).
If no family member can fulfill this obligation, it is customary to appoint a G-d-fearing person to carry out this sacred task.
If you can't recite all the Kaddish personally, the Yechiva offers a service where a representative can recite Kaddish on your behalf.
